Where Every Swimmer Starts

What is Learn to Swim?

Learn to Swim is our foundational programme that takes a complete beginner of any age from fear of the water to confident, independent swimming. We build water comfort and safety first, then layer in floating, breathing and the four strokes, at a pace that suits each swimmer.

It is the starting point for almost everyone at 02H, whether that is a nervous toddler on their first splash or an adult who never had the chance to learn. From here, swimmers can move into the national SwimSafer Stage 1 to 6 syllabus or on to stroke correction and competitive training.

Every lesson is led by patient, professionally certified coaches who make learning feel safe and genuinely fun, because a confident swimmer is a safe swimmer.

Who It's For

Lessons shaped around the swimmer

There is no single right age to learn. We tailor every programme to the age, ability and confidence in front of us.

Babies & Toddlers

Gentle water familiarisation from around 6 months, with a parent in the pool. Splashing, bonding, submersions and early safety habits that make the water feel like home. See our baby swimming guide.

Kids

Confidence, breath control and stamina, then clean strokes. Children learn to float, glide and swim independently, ready to progress into the SwimSafer stages. Curious about timing? Read the best age to start.

Adults

It is never too late. We help adults overcome fear of deep water, build fitness and finally swim with ease, in private, unhurried, judgement-free lessons paced entirely to you.

Complete Beginners

Never put your face in the water? Perfect. Most of our swimmers started exactly there. We meet you at zero and take you, step by patient step, all the way to hero.

Our Method

Confidence first, then technique

We believe technique never sticks until a swimmer feels safe. So every 02H journey starts with water confidence, breathing and comfort, and only then moves on to floating, gliding and the four strokes. Confidence unlocks everything that follows.

  • Patient, encouraging coaching that never rushes a nervous beginner
  • Clear, structured progress you and your child can actually feel
  • Feedback after every lesson, plus simple ideas to revise between sessions

Our approach is built on the same teaching framework our coaches use to train other instructors. Read more about the BLABT framework we teach by.

Your Options

Private lessons or small groups

Two ways to learn, both led by the same elite coaches. We will help you choose the right fit.

One-to-One PrivateThe fastest, most personalised progress. Every minute of the lesson is focused on one swimmer, ideal for nervous beginners, adults and anyone chasing a specific goal.
Small GroupsSocial, motivating and cost-effective. Children learn alongside peers of a similar level in calm, uncrowded classes at private condominium pools.
Your First Lesson

What a first lesson looks like

New to 02H? Here is exactly what to expect, so the first splash feels calm and familiar.

  1. Meet your coach. A few relaxed minutes on the pool deck to say hello, ease any nerves and understand your swimmer's goals and worries.
  2. Get comfortable in the water. We start shallow and gentle, with games and breathing, so confidence comes before anything is asked of the swimmer.
  3. Try the fundamentals. Floating, submersions and gliding, matched to ability, so there is a real sense of a first win by the end of the lesson.
  4. Get your plan. The coach shares honest feedback and a clear next step, plus simple things to practise, so every lesson builds on the last.

Safety First

Safe hands, from day one

For a programme that handles young children and beginners in water, safety is not a feature. It is the foundation.

Certified Coaches

Our coaches are NROC certified and hold lifesaving and CPR + AED qualifications, so your child is always in professionally trained hands.

Small, Calm Classes

Private pools and small groups mean close supervision, gentle pacing and a calm environment that is easy for beginners to trust.

Water Safety Built In

Confidence and self-rescue habits are taught from the very first lessons, flowing naturally into the national SwimSafer syllabus.

Good to Know

Learn to swim questions from parents and adults

What is learn to swim?
Learn to Swim is our foundational programme that takes a complete beginner of any age from fear of the water to confident, independent swimming. At 02H we build water comfort and safety first, then layer in floating, breathing and the four strokes, at a pace that suits each swimmer.
What age can my child start swimming lessons?
Children can begin water familiarisation from around 6 months old with a parent in the water, and independent lessons typically from age 3 to 4. 02H Swim School welcomes babies, toddlers, kids and adults, with each programme tailored to the age, ability and confidence of the swimmer.
Do you teach adults and nervous beginners?
Yes. A large part of our Learn to Swim programme is adults and anxious first-timers. Lessons are private or in small groups, paced to your comfort, and led by patient coaches who specialise in turning fear of deep water into genuine confidence, with no judgement and no rushing.
Are lessons private or in small groups?
Both. We offer one-to-one private lessons for the fastest, most personalised progress, and small group classes for a social, cost-effective option. We will recommend the right format for your swimmer's age, goals and confidence when you enquire on WhatsApp.
What should we bring to the first swimming lesson?
Bring swimwear, a towel, goggles and a swim cap, plus a water bottle. Arrive a few minutes early so your child can meet the coach and settle in. For a full walk-through, read our guide on preparing for a first swimming lesson.
How soon will my child learn to swim?
It varies with age, comfort and how often you attend, but many beginners swim short distances independently within a few months of regular weekly lessons. Progress is fastest when families revise gently between sessions, and our coaches share clear feedback after every lesson.
